Salem Witch Trials
"Examination of a Witch" in Salem.
Even though the Bible says to love your neighbor, the Puritans were accusing their neighbors and other people of witchcraft during the time of the Salem witch trials, which resulted in the deaths of nineteen people and hundreds of people being jailed.
The hysteria was started when young girls Abigail Williams and Elizabeth Parris started to act strangely and people blamed witchcraft for it, and thus begun a series of accusations in which innocent people are accused of witchcraft. Although the evidence was heavily tampered and unreliable, the corrupt courts accepted it and began imprisoning, torturing and killing innocent people for confessions.
After the witch trials were over, many people's lives were ruined and it began the decline of the Puritan way of life.
